Spontaneity At Its Best

Me: "I don't know what we're supposed to be doing. What information am I supposed to know to answer this stupid QSAR workshop question????"
V: "Do you want to get food later?"
Me: "Ok. I'm hungry right now."
V: "I feel like fish and chips."
Me: "What, you want to go to the fish market?"
V: "YEH."
Me: "You serious? Ok."
V: "YES. But right now we have to focus on fish. Oh wait crap I meant workshop."

Lol. And so began my little adventure to the fish market. After taking my friends J & V on their first ever ride on a tram, talking in Vietnamese accented English and pretending to be tourists, we arrived at the Fish Market, Sydney. We walked pretty quickly into the main building, avoiding birds and their lovely surprises (if you know what I mean).

My first thought: GLUTEN FREE (GF). What is gluten free. Okay, nothing with batter on it. Nothing fried. There's a story behind the GF escapades. And it all began with the best friend saying "I'm allergic to gluten." But that's a post reserved for another day.

This was the first thing I found:

Gundowring "French Vanilla Ice-Cream" @ The Fish Market
And then I saw 'Serendipity' ice-cream and remembered that I had Coconut & Kaffir Lime flavoured sorbet in the freezer... But who goes to the fish market to eat ice-cream? So, this is what we ended up eating:
Julie ft. Grilled Platter for 2 + Seafood Platter for 1
Oh and Hi Jemi, we didn't eat all the chips so don't call me a pig please =)

When our stomachs were full, I deemed it time for dessert. Hehehe. We ended up going to 'The Rocks - Sydney' because Julie had been raving about how she really wanted to go to Le Renaissance Cafe. The moment I stepped off the bus I immediately regretted not shoving my Nikon into my bag this morning. Classic buildings and architecture - Yes Please. There were even old looking post boxes. *Takes-down-note-for-future-photo-taking-day-Julie-you-are-coming-with-me-no-excuses* It's seriously difficult trying to find gluten free desserts. The only thing you can ever find is macarons. But hey, next door was the Guylian Cafe. Four hours of calorie burning required is shown below:

Clockwise from top - Chocolate Eclair, Coconut & Roasted Walnuts Chocolate Mousse,
Mango Ice-Cream @ Guylian Cafe
Chocolate Eclair: Nice
Chocolate Mousse: Extremely sweet. Beware. Water required...
Mango Ice-cream: To die for.

As you can see, there was a lot of food consumption going on today. I really was surprised to walk past:

Rockpool - Neil Perry's Restaurant
Looks like I'll be returning to The Rocks one day...
I had fun today. Now, back to work.

*Due to the spontaneous nature of this mid-uni week adventure, all photos were taken w/ an iPhone4s
